PURPOSE: To obtain the subject novel compound having an antagonism against angiotensin II, useful for treatment of hypertension, aldosterone excessiveness, cardiac insufficiency, central nervous system diseases, or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A compound represented by formula I {wherein R is formula II [wherein R1 is H, a 2-6C alkenyl, or the like; R3 is H, a 1-6C alkyl, or the like; R4 is H, a 3-8C cycloalkyl-CnH2n (wherein (n) is 1 to 3), or the like]; and R2 is C(NH2)=NOH, 4,5-dihydro-5-oxo-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl, or the like}, such as 1,2-dihydro-1-(2'-(4,5-dihydro-5-oxo1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)biphenyl-4-ylmethyl)-2- oxo-3-N-methyl-N-methylsulfonylaminomethyl-6-butylpyridine is produced. The compound is obtained by applying a compound represented by formula III (wherein E is Cl, Br, or the like) with a basic treatment so as to be converted to a salt, and reacting the same with a compound represented by the formula H-R in an inert solvent, such as DMF, preferably at 10 to 30°C.
