NEW MATERIAL:1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-4-oxoquinoline compound of formula I (R1 is methyl, ethyl; X, Y is F, Cl).
EXAMPLE: 5,6-Difluoro-2-methyl-4-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline.
USE: It is used as a synthetic intermediate of 9-halogeno-5-alkyl-8-unsubstituted through trisubstituted pierazinyl-benzo[ij]quinolidine-2-carboxylic acid, an antibacterial. Further, it has good analgesic and antibacterial actions and can be used as a medicine by itself.
PREPARATION: The reaction of 4-alkoxyquinoline of formula II (R2 is methyl, ethyl) with an alkoxymethyl halide of formula III (R3 is methyl; X1 is Cl) is followed by reaction of the product with a Grignard reagent of formula IV (X2 is Br). Then, the product is hydrolyzed to give the compound of formula I.
