Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A 2-phenyl[or 2-(4-substituted phenyl)]-2-hydro-5-substituted-1,5- benzothiazepine-3,4(5H)-dione of formula I (R1 is H, halogen or lower alkoxy; R2 is lower alkyl, lower alkoxyalkyl, lower alkyl substituted by OH or a halogen or lower dialkylaminoalkyl) and an acid addition salt thereof.
USE: Useful as a coronary vasodilator, antiarrhythmic agent, analgesic, inhibitor for the blood platelet agglutination or a synthetic intermediate for a certain kind of coronary vasodilator.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II is reacted with hydrogen peroxide, water and a trimethylhalogenosilane to give a compound of formula III, which is then subjected to the ring enlargement and gives the aimed substance.
