Claim for the Contracting State : AT A process for the preparation of 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-propanephosphonic acid, which comprises reacting 2-methylprop-1-ene-1-phosphonic acid or 2-methylprop-2-ene-1-phosphonic acid or mixtures of these acids with acrylonitrile in the presence of an at least equimolar amount of a strong acid.
