NEW MATERIAL:The 2-(aminocarbonylalkyl)piperazine and homopiperazine- substituted quinazoline derivative of formula I (A is CH2, CH2CH2 or group of formula II; group of formula III is amino group wherein R1 and R2 are same or different H, 1W6C alkyl or 5W7C cycloalkyl or R1 and R2 together form a cyclic group; n is 2 or 3) and its acid addition salt.
EXAMPLE: 4-Amino-6,7-dimethoxy-2-{4-[1-(methylaminocarboyl)ethyl]-homopiperazino}quinazoline hydrochloride.
USE: It has excellent hypotensive activity, and is useful as a remedy for various hypertensions such as essential hypertension, renal hypertension, etc.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting the compound of formula IV (X is halogen) with the compound of formula V preferably using more than 1 equivalent of the compound of formula V to 1 equivalent of the compound of formula IV.
