NEW MATERIAL: A compd. represented by formula I [R1-R3 are H or methyl; A is H, OH, O-1-4C alkylcarbonyl, R4 is H, 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C alkenyl, etc., R5 is substitutible 3-18C alkynyl, etc., or a group represented by formula II (R6 is 1-5C alkylene, etc.; R7 is 3-8C alkyl, etc., and R8 is H or CH3)], its salt an its N-oxide.
EXAMPLE: N-3,7-dimethyl-octyl-2-amino-decalin.
USE: This new compound is used as a fungicide and exhibits excellent action especially on a wide spectrum of plant pathogenic bacteria of an ascomycete and a basidomycete.
PROCESS: Primary amine represented by formula III is subjected to alkylation reaction by using an alkylating agent of an R4-T type or R5-T type (T is Cl or Br substd. alkyl) in the presence of an acid binder (e.g.; KOH) in a solvent such as acetonitrile.
