Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The 2,2-dichloro-(cis)-3-methyl-(trans)-3-chloromethylcyclopropanemethanol of formula I .
USE: Useful as an intermediate of novel 2,2-dichloro-(cis)-3-methyl-(trans)-3-chloromethylcyclopropanemethanol chloroacetate, etc. effective to control rice blast, and other cyclopropane derivative. Furthermore, it has excellent controlling activity against rice blast, and is useful as a fungicide for agricultural and horticultural use.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the compound of formula II with an alkali metal hydroxide in a solvent or diluent such as hexane, diethyl ether, etc., preferably in the presence of an acid acceptor such as triethylamine, etc. preferably at about 0W100°C.
