Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a new diphenylindene compound useful for, e.g. a photoreceptor of electrophotography of a duplicator, a printer, etc., as an electron-transferring acceptor compound.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I {R1 to R4 each is H, a halogen, a (substituted) alkyl, cyano, an aromatic or COOR6; R5 is [A and B each is H, a halogen, cyano, an aromatic or CO0R6; R5 is a (substituted) alkyl, a (substituted) aromatic or cyano; R6 is a (substituted) alkyl or a (substituted) aromatic]}, e.g. 2,3-diphenylihdenone. In addition, the compound of formula I can be synthesized, e.g. by reacting a 2,3-diphenylindenone compound of formula II with the methylene compound of formula III in the presence of an acid catalyst, etc.
