Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl or together form a polymethylene).

EXAMPLE: 3-Cyanomethylene-4-cyclopentylidene-1-cyclopentene.

USE: A carcinostatic agent.

PREPARATION: The compound of formula I having strong antitumor activity can be produced by treating 1-(cyanomethyl)fulvene with an acid catalyst. The reaction is carried out e.g. in a solvent such as dichloromethane, chloroform, etc., at -100W+100°C, conveniently at room temperature. The catalyst is HCl, H2SO4, etc.
