Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL: Compounds of formula I [X is halogen; Y is NR2R3, formula II (W is O, S; Z is O, S, NR1; n is 1-4; R2, R3 are each alkyl, alkenyl, phenyl, etc.; R4 is R1; R5 is H, alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl, etc.); R1 is H, alkyl, alkoxy, halogenoalkyl] and their salts and stereoisomers.

EXAMPLE: N-(2-Methoxyethyl)-5-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-2-nitro- phenyl acetamide.

USE: A selective herbicides effective also to a wide range of weeds difficult to control.

PROCESS: A compound of formula III is reacted with a nitrating agent (example: nitric acid, nitrogen oxide) in the presence of a co-solvent such as nitric acid and anhydrous acetic acid to obtain a compound of formula I.
