Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL: A compd. represented by formula I [wherein R1 is OH or a group represented by formula II (R5 is a 1-10C alkyl); R2 is OH, = O or a group represented by formula II; and R3 is CH3 or a 1-4C alkyl].
EXAMPLE: 10-(2-Pulpinyl)-19-norandrost-5-ene-3β,17β-diol.
USE: This new material is used as an aromatase inhibitor and useful as a therepeutic agent for estrogen dependence.
PROCESS: A compd. represented by formula III is reacted with sodium boron hydride to obtain the compd. represented by formula I (wherein R1 and R2 are OH).
