Abstract:

To provide a 4-t-butyl-2-nitrophenyloxy sulfonate compound useful as a production intermediate for noble metal extractants and photographic chemicals and provide a method for producing the compound.

The 4-t-butyl-2-nitrophenyloxy sulfonate compound expressed by general formula (1) (R1 is a 1-8C alkyl, phenyl or halophenyl) is produced by reacting 4-t-butyl-2-nitrophenol with a sulfonyl chloride compound expressed by R1-SO2Cl (2) in the presence of a base.
