To provide a hole transport material for an organic electroluminescent element capable of markedly improving a light emission life.

The invention relates to a 4, 4'-biphenylenediamine derivative having a specific structure expressed by formula (III). In the formula R10-R17 are each H, a 1-6C alkyl, an alkoxy or phenyl and R10 and R11, R11 and R13, R12 and R13, R14 and R15, R15 and R17, and R16 and R17 are each optionally combine to form a ring.
