Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A 4,5,5-tri-substituted-2-pentanone derivative expressed by the formula (R and R' are 1W10C alkylsor phenyls which may be substituted; X and X' are Os or Ss).
EXAMPLE: 4,5,5-Tris(phenylthio)-2-pentanone.
USE: An intermediate for a medicine, an agricultural chemical, a perfume, etc., especially for a prostaglaodin, analog an unsaturated fatty acid, a terpene, etc.
PROCESS: 2,5-Dihydroxy-2,5-dimethoxy-2-methylfuran is reacted with a compound expressed by the formula RXH, e.g. thiophenol, ethanethiol or methanol, preferably in an organic solvent, in the presence of an acid catalyst, e.g. boron trifluoride ?ethyl therate complex, at -20W100°C, preferably at 0W50°C, to give a compound expressed by the formula.
