Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A 5-0-substituted-2-deoxyxylono-1,4-lactone shown by the formula I (R is easily releasable substituent group).
EXAMPLE: (D)-5-0-Benzyl-2-deoxyxylono-1,4-lactone.
USE: A raw material for synthesizing 5-hydroxymethyl-(5H)-furan-one useful for synthesizing perfume, etc.
PREPARATION: 4-RO-2,3-Epoxybutan-1-ol is reacted with an alkali cyanide in hydrous ethanol to form 5-0-R-2-deoxyxylonic acid, then, this compound is subjected to azeotropic distillation with toluene and subjected to intramolecular dehydration reaction, to give a compound shown by the formula I.
