To provide a new substance having inhibitory activity on an HMG-CoA reductase and therefore capable of being expected to be clinically used as a pharmaceutical for infectious disease caused by bacteria, and to provide a method for producing the same.
A compound (1) expressed by general formula (I) (R is n-C16H33, i-C16H33 or n-C17H35; and M is H, Na or the like), an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (2) comprising the compound, etc., a method (3) for producing the compound expressed by formula (I) which comprises culturing a microorganism belonging to the Streptomyces genus and having ability of producing the compound expressed by formula (I) in a culture medium, accumulating the compound in the culture medium, and collecting the compound from the culture medium, and the microorganism (4) belonging to the Streptomyces genus and having the ability of producing the compound expressed by formula (I) are provided, respectively.
