Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL: The 5-formylisoxazole of formula I (R is 3 to 10C nonaromatic satd. hydrocarbon residue which may be interrupted as an either group or acetal group by O).
EXAMPLE: 3-Isopropyl-5-formylisoxazole.
USE: Useful as an intermediate for org. synthesis for production of plant protecting agents, dyes and medicines.
PROCESS: The compd. of formula III is obtd. by first bringing the 5- hydroxymethylisoxazole of formula II (R' is H, methyl, ehtyl or the same as those of R) into reaction with dimethylsulfoxide and oxalyl chloride at -100 to +20°C, then with a base and the compd. of the formula I is obtd. from the group of the compd. of the formula III.
