Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL: A compd. of formula I or II [wherein R1 is a (substd.) alkyl, alkoxy, (substd.) phenyl, amino or the like; R4 is H, a (substd.) alkyl or the like; R5 and R6 are each H, OH, or OR7 (in which R7 is a phenylalyl, alkyl or the like) or form a carbon cyclic ring comprising 3 to 7 atoms together with the carbon atoms to which they are bonded; and Z is H, a (substd.) alkyl or 2,3-dihydroxypropyl], or salts of them.

EXAMPLE: 6(R)-[2-[8(S)-(2,2-Dimethylbutyryloxy)-2(S)-methyl-5(R)-hydroxy-6(R)- methyl-1,2,3,4,4a(R),5,6,7,8,8a(R)-decahydronaphthyl-1(S)]ethyl]4(R)-hydroxy-3,4,5,6- tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-one.

USE: A cholesterol level-lowering agent and a lipid level-lowering agent.

PROCESS: These compds. are produced from lovastation or mevastatin.
