Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM switching system with which a cell traffic control is ensured without increasing its hardware scale or the amount of arithmetic operations of a switching system while eliminating the need of loading a function for integrating and controlling the cell traffic information of respective unit switches. SOLUTION: An ATM switching system is provided at least with a switching part 4 for switching the route of an inputted cell according to route information added into the cell, an inside cell processing part 2 located on the inside of the switching part 4 and an outside cell processing part 3 located on the outside of the switching part 4. The inside cell processing part 2 is used for sending a cell received from the outside of the present system in use or the outside cell processing part 3 to the switching part 4, while the outside cell processing part 3 is used for judging whether the outside of the present system or the inside cell processing part 2 is defined as a destination to send the cell based on the cell class received from the switching part 4 and on the number of times the cell has passed through the switching part 4 and for sending the cell according to this judged result.
