Title:
ABNORMALITY DETECTING METHOD OF CUTTING TOOL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS59232752
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To correspond accurately with wide variation of working condition, by employing such method for detecting the abnormality of a cutting tool where T-W thermal electromotive signal under cutting is employed to take out a signal from a member to be cut through a contact board of same material with said member.

CONSTITUTION: When measuring thermal electromotive force to be produced between a cutting tool 2 and member 1 to be cut thus to detect the abnormality of a cutting tool, a contact board 4 of same material with said member 1 is contacted with said member 1 to feed a signal through said contact 4 to an amplifier thus to measure T-W thermal electromotive force. Then it is converted into numeric data in A/D converter while TW thermal electromotive force signals are processed numerically in a computor to obtain the average value which is multiplied by a constant to produce a threshold which is stored in a memory thereafter compared with T-W electromotive force signal. When exceeding over said threshold, a cutting tool abnormality detection signal is produced and provided to a machine controller to perform stoppage of cutting, replacement of tool, etc..
