To provide an abnormality detection method of an electrophotographic printer capable of detecting various abnormalities occurring in a conveyance path before the conveyance of a web.
The operation of a tensile force applying means is stopped. A suction means is brought into a suction released state. A rotational driving force of a buffer plate driving means is released and a buffer plate is rotated by a buffer tensile force applying means. Whether or not the buffer plate is at a first position of the upper limit of a movable range of the buffer plate is detected by a position detection means. The buffer plate is rotated by the buffer plate driving means. Whether or not the buffer plate is at a second position capable of applying a tensile force T to the web is detected by the buffer plate detection means. The slack of the web is eliminated by applying a tensile force F to the web by the tensile force applying means. A conveyance resistance force V is generated by bringing the suction means into a sucking state. The rotational driving force of the buffer plate driving means is released. The tension force T is applied by the buffer tensile force applying means. Whether or not the position of the buffer plate has been changed from the second position is detected by the position detection means.
