Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a composition useful for accelerating germination, budding and growth of a plant, and imparting cold resistance and freezing resistance to the plant and the plant tissue by using an abscisic acid derivative including a new compound as an active component. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains a compound of formula I (R is carboxy, aldehyde, OH, a hydroxyalkyl, amino, etc.; R<1> is H, oxo, a hydroxyalkyl, a halogen, thio, etc.; R<2> is H, oxo, OH, thio, phosphate, etc.; R<3> is carboxyl, aldehyde, an alkyl, an alkoxy, an alkylthio, etc.; R<4> is R<2> , an alkylsiloxane, an alkoxy, etc.; R<5> is R, H or oxo; R<6> is R<1> ; R<7> is R<5> or an acetoxyalkyl), e.g. a new compound expressed by formula II, i.e., (3'E)-4-(5- acetoxy-3-methyl-1,3-pentadien-1-ylidene)-3,5,5-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen -1-one as an active component.
