PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aliphatic polyoxaester which is bioabsorbable and can be used for surgical devices such as sutures and moldings, drug delivery matrices, coating materials, lubricants, etc., by selecting a polyoxaester having specified repeating units.
SOLUTION: There is provided an aliphatic polyoxaester having divalent repeating units represented by formula I [wherein R1 and R2 are each H or a 1-8C alkyl; R3 is a 2-12C alkylene, or formula V (wherein c is 2-5; d is 0-12; and E is 2-5)], repeating units selected from formulae II, III, and IV (wherein R4 is a 2-8C alkylene; A is 1-1,000; R5 is a group in formula VI or formula VI (wherein R6 and R7 are each H or a 1-8C alkyl; R8 is H or methyl; and F is 2-6); B is an integer corresponding to a molecular weight of any one of the formulae I to III of below about 40,000; p is an integer corresponding to a molecular weight of any one of formulae I to IV of below about 40,000; G is a residue derived by removing 1-L H atoms from the hydroxyl groups of a 2-12C hydroxyl-containing alcohol; and L is 1-12) and a combination thereof.
