An absorbent article wherein a liquid permeable surface sheet 2, a liquid impermeable back surface sheet 3, an absorbent body 5 arranged between these both sheets and a liquid diffusion sheet 4 arranged between the surface sheet and the absorbent body are provided and the surface sheet consists of a liquid permeable nonwoven fabric with a weight of 20-40 g/m2 and a thickness under 2 kPa loading measured in accordance with JIS L 1906 of 300-1,200 μm and the liquid diffusion sheet consists of a liquid permeable nonwoven fabric with a weight of 10-25 g/m2 and a thickness under 2 kPa loading measured in accordance with JIS L 1906 of 70-300 μm and ratio of densities of the surface sheet and liquid diffusion sheet is 1:1.5-1:10.0, is provided.
