To provide an achromatic platemaking method capable of greatly reducing ink of three colors being CMY and improving image reproduction quality by suppressing occurrence of visual noise represented by a rosette pattern.
To create a color conversion table for achromatic platemaking, first, a color chart is printed, but the data of the color chart is screened in such a case by the same screening method as a screening method used at the time of actually printing an image. Then, the color chart is subjected to color measuring by performing press plating and printing to create a color conversion table for achromatic platemaking. Then, the color conversion table is used to apply achromatic processing to image data, and FM screening or high definition screen is subsequently applied, then performing press plating and printing.
