PURPOSE: To provide a novel acid amide and a salt thereof useful as a medicament for inhibiting renin-dependent hypertension or hyperaldosteronism.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided an acid amide of the formula (wherein Z is -W-CR7R8-CO; W is CH2, O or NH; Y is Abu, Ala, β Ala, Arg or the like; either of Y and Z may be absent; X is OH, OSO2Ar or the like; R1-R3 and R8 are each H, Ar, Ar-alkyl, Het or the like; R1R2N is pyrrolidino, morpholino or the like; R4 is OH or NH2; R5 and R6 are each A, alkenyl, alkynyl or the like; R7 is H or A; -CR5R6- is 1,1-cycloalkylidene; R9 is H, A, Ar or the like; R10 is A-CO-, Ar-CO- or the like; and m and x are each 0-10) and a salt thereof, e.g. (4S,5S)-5-(4-aminopiperidinocarbonyl-phe-Nva-amino)-6-cyclohexyl-2- methylhexane-2,4-diol. The compound of the formula is obtained, for example, by treating one of its functional derivative with a solvolytic or hydrogenolytic agent.
