Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strengths, flame retardance, and acid resistance by compounding a thermoplastic resin or a rubber with magnesium hydroxide surface-treated with stearic acid or a metal salt thereof. CONSTITUTION:The objective compsn. is prepd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. thermoplastic resin (e. g. an ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer) and/or rubber (e. g. an acrylic rubber) with 50-150 pts.wt. surface-treated magnesium hydroxide, which is obtd. by treating 100 pts.wt. magnesium hydroxide with 0.1-5 pts.wt. stearic acid or metal salt thereof, and other necessary ingredients such as an age resister an antioxidant, a vulcanizing agent, a plasticizer, a colorant, a flame retardant, etc.
