Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an acrylic copolymer having superior transparency and heat resistance and low photoelastic birefringence and oriented birefringence when formed into a film shape. Also, to provide: a biaxially oriented film comprising the acrylic copolymer; a polarizing plate provided with the biaxially oriented film; and a liquid crystal display device. [Solution] The acrylic copolymer contains an N-alkylmaleimide unit, a linear-alkyl (meth)acrylate unit, and a third constituent unit represented by general formula (1). (In the formula, R1 indicates a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and R2 indicates a hydrocarbon group having a cyclic structure.)
