To obtain an antibacterial agent-containing acrylic premix characterized in no discoloration during storage and at the time of molding at high temperatures and useful as the starting material for antibacterial acrylic artificial marbles, an antibacterial agent-containing acrylic SMC or BMC excellent in productivity and high temperature moldability, and to provide a process for preparing antibacterial acrylic artificial marbles high in productivity and excellent in heat resistance.
An acrylic premix comprises (a) methyl meth-acrylate or a (meth)acrylate-based monomer mixture, (b) a polymethyl methacrylate or an acrylic copolymer, (c) an inorganic filler and (d) an antibacterial agent composed of an antibacterial phosphoric acid salt interlaminar compound obtained by intercalating a quaternary ammonium ion having antibacterial action into a laminar phosphoric acid salt. An acrylic SMC or BMC comprises the acrylic premix and polymer powder. A process for preparing acrylic artificial marbles comprises curing the acrylic SMC or BMC at 90-150°C under heating and pressure.
