Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acrylic resin composition excellent in reactivity with an amino resin and resistance to water, and useful for adhesives, molded products, coating materials, esp. automotive clear coating materials.
SOLUTION: This acrylic resin composition comprises (A) a carboxyl-bearing acrylic copolymer [e.g. 30-200mgKOH/g in acid value and 3000-50000 in weight- average molecular weight (Mw)], (B) another acrylic copolymer bearing epoxy group and, according as necessary, OH group (e.g. 200-1500g/eq in epoxy equivalent, ≤50mgKOH/g in OH value and 3000-50000 in Mw), and (C) a curing promoter consisting of a group IVB metal salt (e.g. tin octylate, tin chloride, tin 2-ethylhexanoate, tin naphthenate).
