Abstract:
To provide a high-efficiency active clamp flyback converter and control IC capable of making synchronous rectification at a secondary side of a transformer easy and low-loss and of reducing a core loss of the transformer.SOLUTION: Provided is a control unit 2 that turns ON and OFF a clamp switch QH during an OFF-time period of a main switch QL. For the control unit 2, an ON timing of the clamp switch is set within a range from 1/2 to less than 1.22 times of a resonance period of a resonance circuit of a clamp capacitor Cac and a leakage inductance Llk formed when the clamp switch is turned ON from a time when an excitation current becomes zero, and an OFF timing is set before a time when the excitation current becomes zero, and an ON period is set to be equal to or more than 1/2 of the resonance period of the clamp capacitor and the leakage inductance. By turning ON and OFF the clamp switch, an energy stored in the leakage inductance Llk is regenerated and outputted to a secondary side, and currents at the secondary side form one current waveform.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
