Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an active matrix liquid crystal display device with excellent display quality and with high definition.
SOLUTION: The active matrix liquid crystal display device is provided with a group of electrodes composing matrix shaped pixels and a liquid crystal driving means consisting of active elements. The group of electrodes has a shape of strips which are paired so as to apply an electric field in parallel with a substrate boundary to a liquid crystal layer. The length of the short edge of the strip is shorter than an interval between the neighboring electrodes. Furthermore, specific resistance of the liquid crystal layer is ≥1010 Ωcm and a dielectric constant of the liquid crystal layer is larger than that of at least one non-conductive member.
