Title:
ACTUATING DEVICE OF DISC BRAKE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5999130
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent heating-up of working fluid, by a method wherein, in a disc brake mounted to the front wheel of a motor-cycle, a brake piston, which is movable forward and backward to and from the disc, of the wheel and engaging with a cylinder provided with a caliper, is made of ceramic. CONSTITUTION:A brake piston 5, which is slidably fitted in a cylinder 4c formed within a caliper 4 and is movable forward and backward to and from a brake disc 2 mounted to a wheel, is made of ceramic consisting of alumina. During control in which the brake piston 5 is driven, the heat, generated resulting from slide contact between the brake disc 2 and a brake pad 8, is shut off by the piston 5, whereby the heat is dispersed to the disc 2 and a retainer frame 8b of a friction member 8a for radiation, and is hardly conducted to the caliper 4 and a cylinder 4c, resulting in prevention of over-heating of working fluid. The above mentioned measure reduces the weight of the piston, performs quiet and smooth brake operation, increases durability, and prevents the occurrence of an adverse condition due to boiling of working fluid.
