To provide an actuating device for an earthquake sensor of an elevator, by which earthquake time can checked by a maintenance engineer alone.

When a maintenance engineer closes an unillustrated switch of an actuating device 20 by raising a reset lever 3 of an earthquake sensor 6 up to an illustrated broken line position, an unillustrated exciting coil is excited, and an arm 21 of the actuating device 20 projects up to the broken line position. The maintenance engineer places the reset lever 3 on a roller 21b of the arm 21. On the other hand, a time is actuated by closing of the switch, and after its preset time passes, the exciting coil is released, and the arm 21 draws back to a continuous line position, and the reset lever 3 suddenly falls, and the earthquake sensor 6 is actuated. The maintenance engineer gets on an elevator car in a a preset time of the timer, and checks operation by actuations of the earthquake sensor 6.
