Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an adaptive analog generalization transversal equalizer used in a filtering system of a disk device PRML(Partial Response Maximum Likelihood) read-out channel, low in manufacturing cost, small in size and is easy to manufacture.
SOLUTION: A filtering system includes a transversal equalizer 22 connected to an output of an analog pre-filter in series. The pre-filter includes an adaptive analog filter stage and outputs an appropriate amplitude characteristic signal. Each of adaptive analog low pass filter sections 92, 94, 96, 98 which constitutes a delay circuit 90 in the transversal equalizer 22 and is connected in series is continuously varied in relation to adaptive parameters receiving a transfer function through a bus 40, and supplies a variable delay signal to a corresponding tap. Plural variable gain multipliers 100, 102,..., 108 multiply signals of the corresponding taps by weight of each tap being adaptive process result received through lines 110, 112,..., 118, sent them to an adder circuit 120, and the latter outputs a composite signal precisely approximated to a nominal waveform.
