PURPOSE: To improve the general purpose properties of the remote control device by converting the signal from a remote control device to the signal in accordance with the control signal mode of video tape recorder of the controlled system and providing the adaptor circuit to convert reversely the signal from the video tape recorder.
CONSTITUTION: An adaptor 14 is connected to a connector 12 for connecting the remote control cable of a VTR 10 through a remote control cable. The adaptor (encoder and adapter) 14 is freely attachably and detachably fitted to a video processing device 16, prepared for the type of a VTR 10 and replaced in accordance with the type of the VTR 10. The adaptor 14 has an encoder means to convert the control signal from a main control circuit 20 so as to match with the signal mode of an equivalent VTR 12, and a decoder means to convert respective types of signals from the VTR 12 so as to match with the signal mode of a video processing device 16, and can control remotely the VTR of the different control signal mode with the common remote control device.
