NEW MATERIAL:The addition reaction-type ether imide compound having a skeleton expressed by formula I (D1 and D2 are same or different bivalent organic group having ethylenic unsaturated double bond).
EXAMPLE: 1-[ 4-(3-Maleimidophenoxy) phenyl ]-1,3,3-trimethyl-6-(3-maleimidopheno xy)indane.
USE: A raw material for polymer having high heat-resistant flexibility. The com pound of formula I is used as a composition by combining with a compound of formula II (R1WR4 are H, alkyl, alkoxy, Cl or Br; R5 and R6 are H, methyl, ethyl, etc.), a compound of formula III or a compound of formula IV (A is CH2, O, S, etc.).
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by carrying out addition reaction of an ether diamine compound of formula V with a dicarboxylic acid anhydride of formula VI and formula VII having ethylenic unsaturated double bond and subjecting the reaction product to dehydrative condensation reaction.
