PURPOSE: To obtain an adhesive composition for bonding a heat-resistant polyester fiber by mixing a specified cresol/aminophenol/formaldehyde cocondensation resin with a specified terpolymer latex and a resorcinol/formaldehyde precondensate.
CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises an m-cresol/m-aminophenol/ formaldehyde cocondensate (A) (the ratio between the monomers is 1/0.5 to 1/2; and the molecular weight distribution is such that the areal ratio of a component composed of at least four bonded benzene rings is 35-65%, and the areal ratio of a monomer component is 10% or below, a terpolymer latex (B) obtained by polymerizing a mixture comprising 5-15wt.% vinylpyridine, 40-70wt.% styrene and 15-55wt.% butadiene and then polymerizing a mixture comprising 5-20wt.% vinylpyridine, 10-40wt.% styrene and 45-75wt.% butadiene (the ratio between the weights of the polymers obtained by the former and latter polymerizations is 50/50 to 80/20) and a resorcinol/formaldehyde precondensate and satisfies the equations (wherein (A), (B) and (C) are the weights (in terms of the weight of nonvolatiles) of the respective components).
