Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an adhesive especially effective for dentin of teeth, comprising a primer composed of a water-miscible monomer, a specific metallic salt, methacrylate and a polymerization initiator containing (thio)barbituric acid derivative as one component.
CONSTITUTION: An adhesive capable of coating dentin by firstly coating dentin with a primer containing a copper salt, an iron salt or a cobalt salt and 2- hydroxyehyl methacrylate (water-miscible monomer) and then applying any composition of (A) a curable composition comprising a methacylate-based monomer and a (thio)barbituric acid derivative/copper salt/chlorine ion-based initiator, (B) a curable composition comprising the methacylate-based monomer and camphorquinone/(thio)barbituric acid derivative/copper salt/chlorine ion-based initiator and (C) a curable composition comprising the methacrylate-based monomer and camphorquinone/(thio)barbituric acid derivative onto the primer layer. The adhesive shows strong adhesiveness to dentin.
