Abstract:
PURPOSE: To facilitate the mathematical expression of resistance-temperature characteristics and facilitate logical, accurate and effective design of a circuit employing a positive temperature coefficient characteristics thermistor.
CONSTITUTION: Flat or positive resistance-temperature characteristics are provided in a temperature range in which a crystal structure is of a tetragonal system. Further, positive resistance-temperature characteristics are provided in a temperature range in which a crystal structure is of a cubic system. The composition is expressed by a general formula: (Ba1-v-wSrvMEw)TiO3+yMn+ zSiO2, wherein Me denotes at least one element selected among rare-earth elements such as Y, La and Ce and a group of Nb, Bi, Sb, W, Th and Ta, (v), (w) and (z) are in ranges v=0.01-0.4, w=0.0003-0.003 and z=0.001-0.04 respectively and, further, the ratio of (y) to (w) is in a range of 0.3≤y/w≤4.
