Abstract:
The invention is directed to a tunable mass damper (100) for damping vibrations The tunable mass damper (100) comprises a mass block (2) for providing an inertial mass and at least one guiding element (3) for guiding the movement of the mass block (2) along an acting direction (A). The tunable mass damper (100) comprises at least one force transmitting element (6) which is arranged transversely to the acting direction (A). The mass block (2) is moveable in the acting direction (A) and connected to the force transmitting element (6) by connection means (21, 22). The force transmitting element (6) is pretensioned by at least one spring element (4) wherein the pretension is adjustable.
