Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the increase in the loss of applied load in braking, by interlocking the bolt and nut of a strut between brake shoes with each other so that the bolt and nut are caused by tension springs to follow the opening and closing motion of the brake shoes. CONSTITUTION:A strut 9 is mounted near the opening ends of brake shoes 1, 2 in parallel with the inside of a hydraulic cylinder 8. The strut 9 comprises a bolt 9a fitted with a gear 9c having numerous teeth on the peripheral part, a nut 9b which is engaged with the bolt 9a so that the bolt can be moved inward and outward, and a socket 8d which supports the bolt 9a at its head rotatably and is kept from dropping off. A first shoe return spring 11 is provided in a stretched state between the socket 9a and the brke shoe 1. A second shoe return spring 12 is provided in a streched state between the nut 9b and the brake shoe 2.
