Abstract:

To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which high capacity characteristics of an anode active substance can be fully utilized and the lifetime of the battery can be prolonged.

The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided with a cathode, having a cathode active substance containing Li(LixMn2xCo1-3x)O2 (where 0x1/3) and an anode having an anode active substance containing Si or Sn. In the battery, volumes of the active substances of the cathode and anode are set up so that the theoretical capacity of the anode can become 1.1-3.0 times the capacity of the cathode, in a cut-off voltage of charging after a pre-charging, and lithium of 9-50% of the anode theoretical capacity is preferably accumulated in the anode.
