PURPOSE: To use a perfluorocarbon compound emulsion well-known as a transfusion for transporting oxygen as an adminiculum for chemotherapy of cancers for increasing effectiveness of a carcinostatic agent even against cancerous tissue of cells of especially low oxygen, by using it with the carcinostatic agent.
CONSTITUTION: A perfluorocarbon compound emulsion is used as an adminiculum for chemotherapy of cancers. The particle diameters of the emulsion is fine, has higher oxygen transporting ability than erythrocyte, and its dissociation of oxygen is faster than hemoglobin. When the emulsion is administered, the center of tumor (nucrosis tissue) having resistance to carcinostatic agents and cells of low oxygen around it are provided with oxygen, susceptibility to carcinostatic agents is enhanced, and effectiveness of carcinostatic agents is increased. An emulsion comprising perfluorodecalin and perfluoromethyldecalin as main components and a tertiary amine of perfluorocarbon and perfluoroadamantane as components of small amount is fittest as the emulsion.
