Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent especially suitable for adsorptive removal of nitrogen oxide and/or sulfur oxide in a low concentration in a gas and to provide a method for removing nitrogen oxide and/or sulfur oxide using the adsorbent.
SOLUTION: This adsorbent contains at least one element selected from platinum, gold, ruthenium, rhodium, and palladium, at least one element selected from copper, nickel, cobalt, iron, lead, and cerium, and at least one of alkali metals. In a preferable embodiment of utilization of the adsorbent, after sulfur oxide of a gas containing nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide is removed at first, the resultant gas is brought into contact with the adsorbent to adsorb and remove nitrogen oxide from the gas.
