To provide an advertising device permitting the change of advertisement display in real time according to the places where advertisements are displayed, in a robot for displaying advertisements and guidance, and to provide a method therefor.

The robot autonomously moves and displays the advertisements and guidance, and is provided with: a communication means 107 for accessing an management server in which the advertisement information are registered; a position detecting means 102 for detecting the present position of the robot; a control means 110 for converting advertisement data into advertisement display data on the basis of the advertisement information received from the management server and outputs the converted data, and producing guidance display data from the position of guidance location and the current position of the robot detected by the position detecting means 102 and outputs the produced data; and a display means 101 for displaying the advertisement and guidance display according to the advertisement display data and the guidance display data. The screen of the display means is constituted of: a 1st screen for displaying the advertisements based on the advertisement information supplied from the management server; and a 2nd screen for displaying guidance display created by the robot.
