PURPOSE: To obtain an erythrocyte-deforming ability-improving agent capable of imparting flexibility to erythrocytes to improve the passage rate of the erythrocytes through blood capillaries and maintain the proper passage, and capable of being usefully utilized in the fields of medical cares and foods for the therapy and prevention of thrombosis and hypertension.
CONSTITUTION: The erythrocyte-deforming ability-improving agent uses a highly unsaturated fatty acid-containing phospholipid as a single ingredient or as a main ingredient. The highly unsaturated fatty acid-containing phospholipid is obtained from a soybean phospholipid and a highly unsaturated fatty acid as starting materials by (1) hydrolysis and esterification reactions with phospholipase A2, (2) an ester-exchange reaction with a lipase, (3) hydrolysis and ester synthesis reactions with the phospholipase A2 and a phosphatidyl group-transfer reaction with a phospholipase, or (4) an ester exchange reaction with the lipase and a phosphatidyl group-transfer reaction with the phospholipase D. The preparation is preferably orally administered at a dose of 2.0-4.0g/day as the highly unsaturated fatty acid-containing phospholipid.
