To obtain an agent for manicure treatment that is high resistant to water and shows high adhesion o the nail by incorporating a specific amount of an aqueous emulsion of a copolymer from a specific monomer and another monomer copolymerizable with this monomer with other components.
(I) A monomer bearing a hydrophilic group and a hydrophobic group, selected from compounds of formula I {R1 is -SO3M [M is H, an alkali metal, an (alkanol)ammonium], -COOM, formula II} or of the formula: CH2= CR2-COOR3 (R2 is H, methyl; R3 is formula III-formula IV) and (II) a monomer that is copolymerizable with the component I are copolymerized in a solvent mainly comprising water by the emulsion polymerization, non-emulsion polymerization, phase-inversed emulsion polymerization to prepare an aqueous polymer emulsion (A). The proportion of the component (I) to the total monomer amount of the components I and II is set to 0.1-30wt.%. The component A is formulated in an amount of 1-60wt.% on the solid basis together with (B) a moisturizer, an ultraviolet absorbent and a chelating agent.
