PURPOSE: To obtain an agent for promoting the differentiation of epithelial cell comprising a permeated fraction and/or its treated product obtained by subjecting the whey fraction of milk to an ultrafiltration treatment, useful for preventing and treating dyspepsia and food allergy, and not having a problem on the point of safety.
CONSTITUTION: This agent for promoting the differentiation of epithelial cells comprises a permeated fraction and/or its treated product obtained by subjecting the whey fraction of milk to an ultrafiltration treatment. An ultrafiltration membrane having a fraction molecular weight of 1,000-50,000 is preferably used for the ultrafiltration treatment. For example, a highly pure non-protein nitrogen-containing treated product obtained by subjecting the permeated fraction to the combination of concentration, lactose crystallization, separation and desalting processes may be used as the treated product of the permeated product. When used for beverage of food type products, the objective promoting agent is preferably prepared into health drinks or powder milk preparations. The promoting agent is preferably administered at a daily dose of 0.1-100mg/kg for an adult as the active ingredient on intravenous and oral administrations, and at a daily dose of 0.1-1,000mg/kg on intramuscular administration.
