Abstract:
To provide an air compressor which can use a general AC power and in which the performance of an air discharge quantity or the like exceeds the performance of a conventional device.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, an air compressor includes a compression device for generating compressed air, and an air tank for storing the compressed air. The compression device includes a motor that drives with an AC power as a main power, a battery for supplying power to the motor, and power supply control means for controlling power supply from the AC power supply or a battery to the motor. The power supply control means drives the motor in any of (1) "a normal power supply mode" for driving the motor only by the power from the AC power supply, (2) "a power up mode" for driving the motor with a combination of power from the AC power supply and the battery, and (3) a third power supply mode for driving the motor only by the power from the battery. Also, the power supply control means switches power supply modes in accordance with a state of the air compressor (an internal factor) and a power supply state from the AC power supply (an external factor).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
